Parmesan-Crusted Italian Meatloaf with Herbed Tomato Sauce

2 pounds of ground beef

1/2 cup breadcrumbs

1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1 onion, finely chopped

2 garlic cloves, minced

2 eggs

1/2 cup milk

1 tablespoon Italian seasoning

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1 cup marinara sauce

1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

Fresh basil for garnish


Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).

In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan, onion, garlic, eggs, milk, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Mix well.

Press the mixture into a loaf pan.

Bake for 45 minutes. Remove from oven and spread marinara sauce over the top.

Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese on top and return to the oven.

Bake for an additional 15 minutes or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.

Garnish with fresh basil before serving.
